Quick fixes for cracks

Welcome to another edition of do it yourself! In this edition we will look at some quick fixes for cracks and small holes in your drywall.
I am not that big of a fan of drywall, more like a traditionalist and prefer wooden walls. I think they are classier, longer lasting and easier to maintain. They are not as easy to damage like drywall, but I digress.
So over time you may have started noticing small thin cracks on your wall, or you or someone may have accidentally hit or scraped it with something. Either ways, it looks rather unsightly.
For fixes like this that involves some amount of repainting, it helps that you know the exact shade paint for the different colours you used for your home. You may have had some left over, but chances are, after a long while, you cannot use it. Don’t forget the paint primer too, because you want the fix to blend in flawlessly with everything else. We don’t want to leave any evidence!
You will need the following:
•    A tube silicone caulking
•    Paintbrush, primer and paint
•    Old rags for cleaning
•    Paper Drywall tape
•    Drywall joint compound
•    Medium grade sandpaper
•    Compound knife
For small cracks:
1.    Apply the silicone caulking directly to the crack and wipe off the excess. Follow the directions for drying or curing time.
2.    If it does not look smooth, you can sand it a bit.
3.    Apply primer and paint
For small holes
1.    Clean out the hole if necessary
2.    Fill it with the drywall joint compound and smoothen
3.    Tape over with the drywall tape
4.    Apply some more compound and leave for the required drying time
5.    Sand to finish smoothly
6.    Prime and paint
